ABOUT WALK AND TALK THERAPY

Initial Consultation

An initial complementary free consultation is required before we book in for an Initial Intake so that we can discuss and determine that Walk and Talk Ecotherapy will be helpful to you in meeting your needs.

Initial Intake

An initial intake session is required for all new clients so you can feel informed about the therapeutic process and have your questions answered. In this appointment we will discuss your goals and hopes for counselling and all the details related to scheduling, fees, insurance, cancellations etc. Initial intakes will be done by phone. Individual intake sessions are 60 minutes.

Once you have had your initial intake session, an individual walk and talk sessions will be scheduled at your chosen location. Walk and Talk sessions are offered in 60 minute or extended 90 minute sessions.

Under The Same Sky- ‘Together but Apart’ Walk and Talk

Walk and Talk in person therapy sessions are limited to the locations listed. As an alternative, ‘Distance Walk and Talk’ may be scheduled and done by phone for those who don’t live locally. This is where you will be walking in an outdoor setting that works best for you. We will ‘meet’ on the phone and walk and talk together but be physically apart.

*Please note that new clients will need to have an initial consultation (offered free)
and an intake session before we will book in for a Walk and Talk.

Session Fees

Initial consultations (20 minutes) by phone are free of charge.
Initial Intakes (60 minutes)- $130.
Walk and Talk Therapy Sessions 60 minutes – $130.
Walk and Talk Therapy Sessions 90 minutes- $180.
Distance Walk and Talk Therapy Sessions (by phone)- $130- $180.

Payment accepted: cash, e-transfer, cheque, mobile payment

Receipts will be issued that you can submit to your insurance provider

A reminder about Insurance:
Psychotherapy is not publicly funded under OHIP in Ontario, unless delivered by a psychiatrist or through a Ministry of Health-funded program. Most workplace insurance providers however, include counselling within their coverage packages.

To avoid surprises or disappointment, we strongly recommend checking with your insurance provider before starting therapy to ensure they will cover our services if you intend to claim your sessions. You will need to verify that they cover services delivered by a Social Worker holding a Master’s Counselling Psychology degree and is a registered social worker (RSW) with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).

Cancellation Policy

We know that unforeseen situations come up, especially when we are experiencing challenging times. If you can inform us as soon as you know that you will be missing your appointment it will help keep our counselling spaces free for others who could use them. Thank you for your diligence with this and your efforts to cancel within at least 24 hours notice.

Please know that a cancellation fee applies for ‘no show’ appointments. No show appointments will be charged the full session fee.
